Grateful Red
The Grateful Red is the student section of the University of Wisconsin-Madison's NCAA men's basketball team. As a division of the Badger Student Fan Club, they cheer on the Badgers from behind the basket at the Kohl Center. The name is an apparent take-off of the famous rock group Grateful Dead as they wear tie-dyed t-shirts as their pseudo-uniforms. The Grateful Red holds 2,100 students and extends from the floor all the way to the roof of the Kohl Center, a span of 3 decks. Demand for student season tickets is extremely high causing the university to hold an annual weighted lottery in order to distribute tickets. The Kohl Center has become exceptionally difficult for opposing teams to play in helped in part by the Grateful Red. Under current coach Bo Ryan the men's basketball team has achieved a record of 93-5 at home, and currently hold a 24 game home win streak.
